Route: From Weymouth to Poole

A chance to explore one of the most popular areas of Dorset with history of all eras incorporated within one walk.

Start your journey in the seaside town of Weymouth, a multi-layered historical port and a firm favourite with travellers since the 17th century, this is still evident with some of the architecture remaining in the town, the Victorians followed and continued to build amazing features in the town including forts and castles, all open to the public. Miles of sandy beaches give you the opportunity to sit and enjoy an ice-cream before setting out on your epic journey.

Undulating clifftops give outstanding views of the Dorset coastline before reaching the breath-taking natural structure of Durdle Door in Lulworth Cove.

Walk through the firing range and visit deserted Tyneham village and its exhibitions explaining the evacuation of its inhabitants to assist in the war effort of the second World War.

Due to limited accommodation options in Worth Matravers, travel inland to spend a night in Corfe and explore the ruined castle and its grounds or take a steam train ride.

Journeys end looms large at Studland Point and your final reward is a ferry trip across the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks, from here you can either catch the bus or an additional ferry into the heart of Poole. You can celebrate reaching the end of the South West Coast Path in one of its many restaurants and cafes before a good nights rest and then your trip back to London.
