Route: From Coverack to Swanage (Shorter Daily Distances)

The daily mileages of this itinerary are less than standard giving you a great chance to explore the villages you come across, stop and take photographs or just spend time sitting on beaches or cliffs. About 10% of our walkers choose this pace, and they are normally either new to walking holidays, or like to take their time.

Day 1: Arrive
Coverack
- Day 2:
Coverack to Helford Passage
Distance: 13 miles Difficulty: Moderate

There are 2 river crossings to consider today. Gillan Creek can be waded 3 hour either side of low tide and there is a small ferry operating 3 hours either side of high tide April til October. The Helford can be crossed throughout the day using the ferry. During Spring tides, there are occasions were the Helford ferry is unable to operate for 1-3 hours if the tide is extremely low.

Day 3:
Helford Passage to Falmouth
Distance: 9.5 miles Difficulty: Easy
- Day 4:
Falmouth to Portscatho
Distance: 7.5 miles Difficulty: Easy

Two ferry crossings are required on this stretch.

- Day 5:
Portscatho to Portloe
Distance: 7.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous

Due to a lack of accommodation in Portloe, it may be necessary to accommodate you elsewhere and include transfers to and from the accommodation.

- Day 6:
Portloe to Gorran Haven
Distance: 9 miles Difficulty: Strenuous/Easy

Day 7:
Gorran Haven to Charlestown
Distance: 10.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous
Day 8:
Charlestown to Fowey
Distance: 10 miles Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
- Day 9:
Fowey to Polperro
Distance: 7.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous

A ferry is required between Fowey and Polruan.

Day 10:
Polperro to Looe
Distance: 5 miles Difficulty: Moderate
Day 11:
Looe to Crafthole
Distance: 8.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate
- Day 12:
Crafthole to Kingsand/Cawsand
Distance: 9 miles Difficulty: Moderate

- Day 13:
Kingsand/Cawsand to Plymouth
Distance: 6.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate/Easy

A ferry is required between Cremyll and Plymouth.

- Day 14:
Plymouth to Wembury
Distance: 11 miles Difficulty: Easy/Moderate

Due to a lack of accommodation in Wembury, it may be necessary to accommodate you elsewhere and include transfers to and from the accommodation.

- Day 15:
Wembury to Erme Estuary
Distance: 10 miles Difficulty: Moderate

Cross the River Yealm by short ferry journey.
Due to a lack of accommodation in near the Erme Estuary, a taxi will collect you from Mothecombe to take you to accommodation nearby.

- Day 16:
Erme Estuary to Hope Cove
Distance: 9.5 miles Difficulty: Easy/Moderate

You'll be dropped to the East side of the Erme Estuary at Wonwell. Approximately 5 miles into today's walk you will need to cross the River Avon by short ferry journey. This only operates 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00.

Day 17:
Hope Cove to Salcombe
Distance: 8 miles Difficulty: Strenuous
- Day 18:
Salcombe to Hallsands
Distance: 10.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous

Crossing Kingsbridge Estuary by ferry.

- Day 19:
Hallsands to Strete
Distance: 6 miles Difficulty: Moderate

Due to a lack of accommodation in Strete, it may be necessary to accommodate you elsewhere and include transfers to and from the accommodation.

Day 20:
Strete to Dartmouth
Distance: 6.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous
- Day 21:
Dartmouth to Brixham
Distance: 11 miles Difficulty: Moderate/Easy

Ferry crossing from Dartmouth to Kingswear.

- Day 22:
Brixham to Paignton
Distance: 5.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate

Day 23:
Paignton to Babbacombe
Distance: 7 miles Difficulty: Moderate
- Day 24:
Babbacombe to Dawlish
Distance: 10.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous/Easy

Ferry required from Shaldon to Teignmouth.

- Day 25:
Dawlish to Budleigh Salterton
Distance: 11.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate

Ferry required Starcross to Exmouth

Budleigh Salterton to Sidmouth

Beer to Lyme Regis
Distance: 8.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate
Day 29:
Lyme Regis to West Bay
Distance: 11 miles Difficulty: Moderate
Day 30:
West Bay to Abbotsbury

Day 31:
Abbotsbury to Weymouth

Day 32:
Weymouth to Lulworth

- Day 33:
Lulworth to Kingston
