The daily mileages of this itinerary are less than standard giving you a great chance to explore the villages you come across, stop and take photographs or just spend time sitting on beaches or cliffs. Short ferry ride from Rock to Padstow.

- Day 4:
Padstow to Porthcothan
Distance: 13.5 miles Difficulty: Easy

Day 5:
Porthcothan to Newquay
Distance: 10.5 miles Difficulty: Moderate
- Day 6:
Newquay to Perranporth
Distance: 11 miles Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous

The distance above is based on crossing The Gannel at Fern Pit Cafe, either using the bridge (low tide) or the ferry (high tide / operates May to mid September). There are 2 alternative bridges to take a little further upstream. Penpol Bridge +1 mile or Trenance Bridge +2.5 miles.

The Lizard to Coverack

- Day 19:
Coverack to Helford Passage
Distance: 13 miles Difficulty: Moderate

There are 2 river crossings to consider today. Gillan Creek can be waded 3 hour either side of low tide and there is a small ferry operating 3 hours either side of high tide April til October. The Helford can be crossed throughout the day using the ferry. During Spring tides, there are occasions where the Helford ferry is unable to operate for 1-3 hours if the tide is extremely low.

Helford Passage to Falmouth

Two ferry crossings are required on this stretch.

Portloe to Gorran Haven

Gorran Haven to Charlestown

A ferry is required between Fowey and Polruan.

Kingsand/Cawsand to Plymouth

A ferry is required between Cremyll and Plymouth.

- Day 31:
Plymouth to Wembury
Distance: 11 miles Difficulty: Easy/Moderate

- Day 32:
Wembury to Erme Estuary
Distance: 10 miles Difficulty: Moderate

Cross the River Yealm by short ferry journey.
Due to a lack of accommodation near the Erme Estuary, a taxi will collect you from Mothecombe to take you to accommodation nearby.

- Day 33:
Erme Estuary to Hope Cove
Distance: 9.5 miles Difficulty: Easy/Moderate

You'll be dropped to the East side of the Erme Estuary at Wonwell. Approximately 5 miles into today's walk you will need to cross the River Avon by short ferry journey. This only operates 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00.

Hope Cove to Salcombe

Salcombe to Hallsands
Distance: 10.5 miles Difficulty: Strenuous

Crossing Kingsbridge Estuary by ferry.
