Route: From Falmouth to Plymouth

Overview

The journey from Falmouth to Plymouth provides an "away from it all" experience.

A fascinating and varied walk along mile upon mile of protected coastline on a cliff lined path, over gorse-covered granite headlands, through wooded valleys and along rocky coves, with endless panoramas and views across the ever present seas below.

Discovering tiny fishing villages, bustling ports and sleepy hamlets, such as majestic St Mawes, picturesque Portloe, and bustling Mevagissey.

Walk along the very same amazing estuaries that inspired Daphne Du Maurier and among the scenery that has inspired so many other writers and artists.

This part of the Coast Path is very scenic, with ferry trips over several rivers.  It starts at one busy harbour and ends at another, with many small ones in between.

Sometimes seals can be seen in the sea below the cliffs which are very busy during the nesting season.  When you pass through the ancient port of Charlestown, near St Austell, you may even see a sailing ship in the harbour.  The route meanders over grassy hills and through little villages, finishing in a country park across the Tamar from Plymouth.  The Cremyll Ferry travels across the river to the end of the walk.

If you're looking to escape from routine, bustle and stress, then immerse yourself in the gentle beauty of the south Cornwall coastline as this holiday is for you!

5/5 Corrie and Rob from Canada
Going through all our fabulous pictures of our hiking holiday of Cornwall from St.Ives to The Lizard. Despite some soggy days the hikes were enjoyable. Views were spectacular and very pleasant accommodations along the way. Loved that we could just arrive and start off on the trail with no worries of what lay ahead each day. Always arrived to a nice bed, all our bags and found a great pub for chats with the locals. Cannot wait to come back and continue on the coastal trail farther! All the places we stayed were very pleasant and accommodating. Great ideas too on how to dry out our soggy boots!

We are now two weeks back from our recent holiday......grim.....but could not let the opportunity pass to say a big thank you for your work in making the SWCP section of our holiday so fantastic We could not fault anything - the guide book superb, the overall map invaluable, the accommodation absolutely perfect, the luggage transfer such a treat......just a shame about the fog at Lands End....we may as well have been in Perth!?!? We are keen to use you again to do the section from Minehead to Hayle.....and I have been singing your praises to lots of people.....hopefully you will get a booking from my work colleagues - in due course Till next time Cheers
